The right choice of a safety shoe
The use of the respective shoes depends on the degree of danger. For all footwear, additional requirements may be necessary, such as requirements for heat or cold insulation, safety against penetration or electrical contact resistance. These shoes must then be marked accordingly. The company must only procure foot protection with CE marking. The area of foot protection is regulated in the standards EN ISO 20345:2007 to EN ISO 20347:2007. These standards divide shoes into different protection classes. Depending on the toe protection a distinction is made between: Safety shoes according to EN ISO20345: With toe protection caps for high loads, whose protective effect is tested with an energy of 200 joules (short designation S). Protective shoes according to EN ISO20346: With protective toecaps for medium loads, whose protective effect is tested with an energy of 100 joules (short designation P). Work shoes according to EN ISO20347 Without protective toecaps. If a toe cap is present, no requirements are placed on it (short designation O).
